When it comes to your shoulder and elbow health, finding the right specialist can make all the difference. As a Dallas native and fellowship-trained elbow and shoulder surgeon specializing in advanced elbow and shoulder care, I’m proud to bring world-class expertise and compassionate care to the community that shaped me.
The Role of Shoulder & Elbow Specialists
Shoulder and elbow surgeons are orthopaedic specialists with advanced training focused on diagnosing and treating conditions affecting these complex joints. From sports injuries and fractures to arthritis and tendon tears, specialists in this field are uniquely equipped to address the challenges of shoulder and elbow care. Their expertise often include advanced surgical techniques, such as minimally invasive arthroscopy and reconstructive procedures, as well as nonoperative techniques such as biologic injections, ensuring patients receive the most effective and least invasive treatments available.
Choosing a shoulder and elbow doctor means you’re working with a surgeon who understands the intricate anatomy and biomechanics of the shoulder and elbow, leading to more accurate diagnoses and better outcomes.
A Lifelong Commitment to Orthopaedics
My journey to becoming a shoulder and elbow specialist began here in Dallas, where I was born and raised. As a child, I had the privilege of watching my father, a respected orthopaedic surgeon in Garland, Texas, care for his patients with skill and dedication. I often accompanied him on patient rounds and to high school football games, observing firsthand the profound impact a knowledgeable and caring surgeon can have on a person’s life.
My own experiences with sports injuries further deepened my passion for orthopaedics. Playing tennis, baseball, and football, I faced knee and elbow injuries that required expert care. The personalized attention I received from the Carrell Clinic doctors inspired me to pursue a career in orthopaedic surgery and ultimately return to Dallas to provide the same level of care to others.
Unparalleled Training & Expertise
After graduating from Greenhill School, where I was honored with the Bernard Fulton award, I attended Duke University. There, I walked on to the tennis team and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Biology and minors in Spanish and Chemistry. I continued my medical education at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, then matched at Jackson Memorial Hospital / University of Miami for Orthopaedic Surgery Residency.
During my residency, I was honored to serve as academic chief resident, a role that solidified my commitment to advancing orthopaedic knowledge and patient care. To further specialize and become an advanced shoulder and elbow surgeon, I completed a world-renowned fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at the Rothman Institute / Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Under the mentorship of global experts in the field, this fellowship provided advanced training in both open reconstructive and arthroscopic techniques.
